This Hungarian man has 23 degrees and a 37-page CV
Born in Kishunfélegyháza, Krisztián Kapus, 49, already has 23 degrees. But this is still not enough, he says: right now, he is studying in Szeged. On the way towards his 24th degree, he talked about his thirst for knowledge to Mandiner.
Krisztián Kapus is driven by the desire to learn, Mandiner reports. He finished his secondary school studies at the Piarist High School in Kecskemét. In the third year, he decided to become a doctor. Then, he thought one degree would be enough. However, a year later, as a senior, he was more interested in Hungarian literature and religious education. Thus, he went to Szeged to study and ended up not getting his first degree in medicine, but in Hungarian library studies.
Less than two weeks later, he obtained a degree as a Catholic religious education teacher in a correspondence course. Later, also in Szeged, at the József Attila University, he graduated as a computer scientist.
“I have a constant thirst for knowledge. If I immerse myself in a subject and I feel I want to know everything about it, I usually end up with another degree,” Krisztián Kapus told Mandiner. The man did not stop pursuing a degree even after obtaining the above-mentioned qualifications. He believes that his problem-solving skills have improved the most as a result of studying so much.
“I’m comfortable in many areas, and that helps me in my everyday life. And yes, I can hammer a nail into a wall or change a light bulb, so I don’t just live my life on a theoretical level,” he said. Kapus has never been unemployed and is constantly updating his CV, which is currently 37 pages long. “I always say, only print it out if you really have the time to read it,” he joked.

What does collecting degrees have to do with learning how to think critically, the only learning that really counts? Hungarian library studies? Catholic religious education? Computer science? These are not subjects that teach critical thinking. Anyone who believes that his “problem-solving” skills have improved by amassing 23 degrees in subjects like these has been smoking too much weed.
Dear Elemér, we mentioned 3 degrees. As you can see, he has 20 more. There is a huge possibility that some or all of those taught him critical thinking. What is more, many university majors require critical thinking courses. Thank you for reading us.
